Stokely Carmichael AKA Kwame Ture led the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) in 1966 after taking over for the great John Lewis ("Good Trouble"). He coined the term "Black Power" as a grassroots organizer born in Trinidad, raised in Harlem.

Fleeing FBI persecution, Stokely Carmichael moved to Africa in 1968. He reestablished himself in Ghana, and then Guinea by 1969. There he adopted the name Kwame Ture, and continued organizing around Pan-Africanism.
