Black History Month

Started in 1926 as Negro History Week by Carter G. Woodson, Black History Month is celebrated as a designated time for Americans to learn about the innumerable contributions of African-Americans to the USA way of life.

Everyone knows about Dr. MLK Jr., Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and maybe now about John Lewis... but there is SO MUCH MORE!

Here are some resources to learn more about those hidden figures of our history - OURSTORY - that worked hard and deserve our honor:

Urban Intellectuals & Sankofa Club - collectively teaching Black History to families. They have flash cards and stuff too!

Because of Them We Can - inspirational Black History site and social media... plus adorable children dressing up as our pioneers

BlackAmericaWeb - Little Known Black History Facts

The Undefeated - Home of the Fierce 44 book series, and lots of Black History/Black Current Events
